Feel Better About Your Body

That is the title of an article in Parade Magazine this morning.  The article goes on to talk about how you can’t make improvements if you don’t learn to accept yourself.  Good advice that I think we all would agree with.

Now look at the picture they had with the article.

She could sure use some improving in her body.  Ironic isn’t it.  I think it is so commendable how they used a middle aged slightly over weight mother with a few stretch marks admiring herself in the mirror to promote the concept.  NOT!

Yes, isn’t it ironic how the media can still harm our body image while attempting to build it. As you probably have noticed in other comments I’ve made, I have serious issues with the media and it’s impact on body image. I love Dove’s marketing campaigns, sure, their models have gorgeous, flawless skin but their bodies are more realistic then anything else I’ve seen in a magazine.

Ha, that is an idea I have really struggled with for the past few years as I mostly just despise the body in the mirror anymore. I checked out Amy’s blog and she makes a really good point. I shall have to try that.
