Fruitcakes, Nuts and Extremists

The Supreme Court is expected to rule this week on the D.C. gun law.  As I understand it, a person is not allowed to even keep a gun in their own home. I could be wrong on the law.  If my understanding is correct, it seems rather extreme to me.

On the other end you have Utah.  The nuts there are going whole hog over open carry.  It seems they like to make a statment by pretending they live in the Wild West and carry their guns strapped to their hips and out for everyone to see.

I think they are trying to compensate for inadequacies in other areas.

People who believe they need to be packing heat 24/7 are probably exactly the people who shouldn’t be carrying.

Another good cartoon from Pat Bagley, my favorite political cartoonist, regarding this issue.

I have not been following this issue closely, but I think your understanding of it is correct. As a firm advocate of gun control and a hater of guns due to the mindless shootings and violence I have seen in the more than two decades I have been here in US, I think the law is not extreme at all!

hmmm, interesting. Being in Utah I dont carry a gun but wish I could. You have to look at it from all different sides; many people have good reason to carry, self preservation for one. Me knowing first hand how that one goes! Plus, being a single Mom and not having a strong male to protect me . . what ever shall I do ? let the oaf barge in my house ? naw, I’d shot him dead if he so much as put one toe in my house.

The key word is “let him barge in my house”. Having one in your house and packing heat open carry 24/7 is nuts. There may be some people who do have a need to carry but they are very few.
