I Don’t Like These Butts.

The bicycle parking where I work is very close to the smoking area. There is a painted area where the smokers are supposed to stay. They of course don’t stay there and wander into the bike parking.

The irony is that all these people riding a bicycle to work for their health have to walk through a blue cloud of tobacco smoke to get to their bikes. And then there is this:

What is it about smokers that they feel it is okay to just throw their butts on the ground?

It is the same thing at intersections. I have found that when bicycling or walking when I come to a major intersection that the place reeks with stale butts.

I am a butt man myself and can appreciate a nice butt. These don’t count.

Now you can take your butt over to Candid Carrie for Friday Foto Fiesta.

I myself do enjoy a nice butt, these don’t really do it for me!

I had a friend in highschool that would honk at people everytime they threw their butts out the window of their cars. I married a man that smokes and has burnt holes in his pants pockets and has washed and dried butts in our dryer because he refuses to throw them out.. not that he rides a bike, ever….

When I lived in an apt years ago, the renters upstairs used to just toss their cigarette butts from the balcony till they had totally littered up the front lawn - it was sickening! Needless to say, someone reported them to the bldg. management after which that stopped, but we all neighbors had to suffer major unsporting attitude from them after that.

And these were yuppies in their early thirties - but clearly still in their worst frat boy mode…

From an x smoker who NEVER threw out butts…I dont know. My hubby smokes but I keep cans out by all the doors so he has NO excuse. You can bet when I find a butt out of the can I let him have it!!

Of course if you say something they will immediately become a victim of the anti-smoking attitude that everyone holds against them. I found this out by saying something to people smoking near my office door, they all had the world is against me because I smoke attitude.

However, I am with you in appreciating a nice butt.

Bob: We recently had a bike commuter meeting in our building and the smoking area issue came up. Some wanted the issue addressed. I felt like it was better just to leave it alone for the reasons you have mentioned.

There are only so many places they can go. I am willing to put up with the smoke for the short time I am there. They repainted the lines around the area but it doesn’t do much good.

[...] Red at spokesNspin posted about cigarette butts and him admitting, “I am a butt man myself and can appreciate a nice butt.” Then later in the day I came across this video, so it just seemed appropriate to put this video up and link to his posting, “I Don’t Like These Butts”. [...]

    That’s truly disgusting.

Man, that pisses me off. I wish cops sat around and ticketed people who throw butts on the ground instead of those of us who drive too fast when it’s 5am and nobody else is up or on the road.

I’m a biker too. Shout out. So glad you visited my blog so I could find yours!
