Heck of a thing to haul behind your bike, don’t you think!

Looks like a road trip to me!

Perhaps I should clarify- Are you thinking one would be nice to go on vacation with or are you thinking it would be better to live in one rather than an apartment? Because my first thought was you wanted to live in one.

My uncle lived out of one of those for years….. of course it was also 3 times the size and had a wood-burning stove in it…. oh, and he put it on his own land and eventually built a house.
When I came home from France he offered to set it up for me on the far corner of the property so I could help him as a hand on the ranch. In a way I could have chosen between that and my education and Inger-Lis. I think I made a wise choice, but once in a while my gypsy blood still pines for it.

Inger-Lis, I will live in it.
Jay, You’ve got the general idea.
I need all of the ideas from cyberspace out there to help with this plan. So feel free to comment.
More plans and ideas to come.

My idea: I think you should live out a school bus and raise sheep. That is my retirement dream anyway…

I think it matches your car perfectly. The only problem is where are you going to store your bikes?

That sounds kind of fun but I see one drawback. where will you park yourself most of the time. Im pretty sure there is a general lack of open space in DC and I dont think neighbors will like it if you just ’set up shop’ in front of thier homes.

I was kind of thinking of parking it at your house. It is Rose Park after all. I might fit right in.
Why have a house on wheels if I am going to park it? And who said anything about staying in D.C.?
How about setting up a pad on grandpa’s farm?
I got lots of things figured out and just waiting for all of you to come up with other ideas and suggestions.

My mom lives in a motorhome, except it’s about 4 times that size. She is not retired, but runs a business traveling around to shows selling junk that nobody needs. If you seriously want insight on living in an RV, let me know.
Here’s another insight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmhxRVR9dqI
I’ve considered it, but couldn’t do it with a wife and kids. If you ever need a place to stay I will soon have a driveway in Kentucky that you can park in. We might even let you shower every now and then if you want.

I would suggest “getting back to nature.” There are lots of great rivers to shower in, as long as you like fish…you can eat every day…here are some pics of my friend fishing all summer http://kissmeimkreitel.blogspot.com/2008/12/late-entry.html
You could do your road trips with a fishing pole. As long as you have some sort of retirement saved away (that didn’t crash with the market) you could pick up the essentials at a store.
Or maybe you could move to a third world country where an airstreamer is a step up in the world and suddenly your savings account is worth 50 times more than it was. I would suggest Argentina, steaks are as cheap as bread and your money triples in value when you show up.
Maybe you should live in a warmer place, one where “no heating” doesn’t tend to be an issue. If you got into mountain biking, Moab or St. George are great places…the only downside…your stuck back in Utah.
Maybe you could stay high tech in your airstreamer. You could start a biking business online, have a laptop with a wireless connection for business and you could work out of every National and State park that exists….you could post “business pics” of you biking all over the nation.
Thinking about all of this makes me wonder….why do we live the way we do? Is it all about the money? If we could survive without dealing with money…would we all just visit the most beautiful places on earth and ponder the eternities? Who knows…..
You’ll have to tell us how things work out for you…maybe you could suprise me and show up on my door step asking to use the bathroom…
